Virtual Office in Ethiopia: Addresses, Legal Use and Costs (2026)

Virtual office addresses in Ethiopia

A virtual office gives a business a real street address in a staffed building without renting a room inside it. In Ethiopia that market is very small and completely concentrated in the capital: Wezoo lists two virtual office addresses in the country, both in Addis Ababa, and both inside buildings that are also run as serviced offices. This page sets out which addresses those are, what each listing publishes, what it does not, and how to request one.

Because there are only two, everything below is specific rather than general. Where a listing does not carry something, this page says so plainly instead of filling the gap with a figure that would look reassuring and mean nothing.

What you get with virtual office in Ethiopia — and what you do not

A virtual office is an address, not a room. You get the use of a real business address in a managed building, with people on site and post arriving at a street location. You do not get a desk, an enclosed room or a key, and nothing in this product gives you the right to sit in the building.

That distinction carries more weight in Ethiopia than in most markets, because the obvious alternative here is a post box. A box at a postal branch is a delivery point with a number on it. A virtual office is a street address in a building with a reception, which is a different thing in every way that matters commercially: it has a street and a sub-city, it reads to a client as a place of business, and there are staff there during working hours.

Both Ethiopian addresses sit inside buildings operated by Regus, so what each listing publishes are building facilities rather than desk services. Cape Verde Street publishes parking, breakout spaces and catering. City View publishes breakout spaces and catering. Those facilities belong to the building the address is in, and they are relevant to you mainly on the days you turn up in person.

What the listings do not specify is the handling of the post itself. Mail receipt, scanning, forwarding and call answering vary from one provider to another, and in this market they are agreed when you request the address rather than published in advance. Put them in your first message, because that is the part of the service that differs most between providers and the part no listing can answer for you.

Where virtual office is available in Ethiopia — the cities and how many addresses in each

One city, two addresses. Every virtual office address in this inventory is in Addis Ababa. There is no second Ethiopian city in it, so a business that wants a Dire Dawa, Hawassa or Bahir Dar address will not find one here.

Within Addis Ababa the two are genuinely separate locations rather than one building listed twice. Cape Verde Street is in Bole Sub-city, the part of the city most business visitors already know, on the airport approach and among the main concentration of hotels and company offices. City View is listed at No:167, Woreda 1, to the east of it, a measurable distance away rather than around the corner.

For a business choosing between them, the practical question is which part of Addis Ababa it wants on its letterhead. Bole is the address a visitor or a client recognises without having to look it up, and recognition is a large part of what a business address is for. That is worth settling before the first enquiry rather than after it.

The two virtual office addresses in Ethiopia

Each address is listed below with what its own listing publishes. Neither carries a price, which the next section covers.

1. Cape Verde Street — Addis Ababa

Cape Verde Street is on Cape Verde Street in Bole Sub-city, Woreda 3. It is the better recognised of the two Ethiopian addresses, in the sub-city a visiting client is most likely to know, and it is the one that publishes parking alongside its breakout spaces and catering. For a business that expects people to come to the address from time to time rather than only post, that is the practical difference between the two listings.

It is also the address to ask about first if you want the option of using the building itself occasionally, since the same location runs serviced offices and rooms you can take by the month.

2. City View — Addis Ababa

City View is listed at No:167, Woreda 1, east of Bole. Its published building facilities are breakout spaces and catering. Its address line is given at woreda level, so if the precise position within Addis Ababa matters to you, for a registration or simply for how it reads to a client, confirm it when you enquire.

It is the second address in a two address market, which makes it the one to ask about if Cape Verde Street cannot offer the terms you need. Having a genuine alternative in the same city is worth more here than it would be in a market with forty of them.

What virtual office costs in Ethiopia — and is there a free option?

Neither Ethiopian address publishes a price. That is the ordinary shape of this product rather than a hole in the listing. A virtual office is quoted on what you actually need, and the variables that move the quote are how your post is handled and what you intend to use the address for. Pricing for both addresses is on request.

Quotes in this market are set in Ethiopian birr. When you enquire, ask for a monthly figure in birr and ask which services sit inside it, because the address and the handling are separate things and only the first of them is fixed. Ask what happens to post that arrives when you are not in the country, since for most businesses using an address like this, that is the normal case rather than the exception.

Is there a free option? Not a business address of this kind. A free address is either one you already control, such as your home or your company’s own premises, or a post box, which is a delivery point rather than a place of business. Both are legitimate and both cost less. What neither gives you is a street address in a staffed building, which is the whole reason this product exists. If a free address genuinely does the job for you, use it, and keep the money.

Is virtual office legal in Ethiopia, and which addresses the registrar accepts

This section needs an honest answer rather than a confident one. The rules that determine which address a company may give when it registers in Ethiopia have not been verified for this page. So this page does not tell you that a virtual office address may be used as your registered company address, and it does not name the authority that decides. Anyone who tells you either without pointing at the rule itself is guessing.

What is worth setting out is the distinction that causes most of the confusion. A registered address is the address a company gives to the authorities as its official one. A postal or correspondence address is simply where post reaches you. They are not the same, and an address that serves perfectly well as the second may not be accepted as the first. A great many businesses use a virtual office only as a correspondence address, with no registration involved at all, and for them the question never arises.

The practical route is short and it runs in a fixed order. The operator of the building sets the terms for its own address, including whether it will support a registration and what it would need from you, so that question goes to the operator with your enquiry. Then, before you register anything, confirm with the competent Ethiopian authority that the address you have been offered is acceptable for the specific purpose you want it for. The second answer is the one that binds, which is why it comes second and not first.

This section is general orientation and not legal advice. Requirements change and depend on your circumstances. Position as of 25 October 2026.

Who uses virtual office — and who should not

The clearest fit in Ethiopia is a business that needs a credible Addis Ababa address without needing to be in Addis Ababa every day. That covers a company based abroad testing the Ethiopian market before committing to premises, a consultant or exporter who travels most of the month, and a founder working from home who would rather not put a residential address on a contract or a website.

It also fits a business that already has premises somewhere less convenient and wants a Bole address for correspondence and for how it reads to clients and partners.

Who should not take one: anyone who actually needs somewhere to sit. If what you want is a room in Addis Ababa, the product is a private office rather than an address, and both of these buildings list those too. Anyone whose only requirement is that post arrives reliably is paying for more than they need, and a post box will do that for less. And if your sole reason for wanting the address is to satisfy a registration requirement, settle the question in the previous section before you commit to anything, because that is the one case where having exactly the right address is the entire point of the exercise.

How to request virtual office on Wezoo

A virtual office is requested rather than taken instantly, because its terms are agreed rather than listed. The process is short.

Open whichever of the two addresses above suits you, send the request, and put three things in the first message: how you intend to use the address, whether for correspondence only or for registration as well; what you want done with post that arrives; and when you want it to start. Those three decide the quote, and sending them up front removes a round of back and forth.

The reply comes from the operator of that building, with its terms and its price in birr. If the first address cannot do what you need, the second one is a genuine alternative in the same city, which in a market this size is not something to take for granted.

If what you need is a room rather than an address, the companion page to this one is office for rent in Ethiopia, which covers these same two buildings as workspace you can occupy by the month.

Ethiopia is a small inventory and the nearest comparable markets are across the border. If an Addis Ababa address turns out not to be the right one, the equivalent pages for virtual offices in Kenya and virtual offices in Uganda cover the two closest regional alternatives, both of them in English.
