Meeting rooms in the UK: 524 locations and 1,946 rooms bookable by the hour

A meeting room in the UK is a room you book by the hour, not a space you rent by the month. Wezoo lists 524 buildings across the United Kingdom with meeting rooms inside them, holding 1,946 individual rooms in 179 towns and cities, from a two-person interview room in Liverpool to a hall with a 600-seat ceiling outside London.

This page is the national picture: what is actually inside those rooms, how they are laid out, where they are, what they cost per hour, and how booking works. Every figure below comes from the live listings.

What you get with a meeting room in the UK, and what you do not

A meeting room on Wezoo is a private, enclosed room with a door, a table and chairs, booked for a block of time. The building’s reception handles your arrival. Here is what the 1,946 rooms publish, counted across the whole set.

Wi-Fi is on every single room. A screen and a whiteboard are on most of them. Video-conferencing kit is listed on 1,215 rooms, spread across 381 of the 524 buildings, so a hybrid meeting is the normal case rather than the exception.

Now the part most listing sites leave out. Refreshments are included in the room rate on only 280 of the 1,946 rooms. On the rest, tea and coffee are either charged separately or simply not published, so if that matters to your meeting, treat it as a question to ask rather than an assumption. Catering is not a published field at all, which means no room on this page can promise you lunch. Parking is listed against the building, not the room. And weekend access is rarer than people expect: only 7 of the 524 buildings publish opening hours that include a Saturday or Sunday. The other 517 publish Monday to Friday only.

A worked example of the fuller specification: Forsyth House on Belfast’s BT2 8LA lists five rooms with ceilings of 4, 6 and 14 people, each one publishing a screen, a whiteboard, a flip chart, video-conferencing and natural light, from £32.47 per hour including tax. Book a meeting room at Forsyth House on Wezoo.

In Bristol, Castlemead on Lower Castle Street runs the same kit across six rooms but stretches further at the top end, with ceilings from 4 up to 30 people and rates from £28.61 to £96.56 per hour. Book a meeting room at Castlemead on Wezoo.

Types of meeting room: boardroom, training room and conference space, by capacity

This is where a meeting room differs from every other kind of workspace. The same four walls are a different product depending on how the furniture is arranged, and 369 of the 524 buildings publish their room layouts explicitly, 2,208 layout records in all.

Layout Times published What it is
Boardroom 1,285

A boardroom-style setup with a large central table

Classroom 201

A classroom-style layout with rows of tables and chairs

Theatre 197

A theatre-style arrangement with rows of chairs facing a presenter

U-shape 187

A U-shape configuration for interactive discussions

Cabaret 164

A cabaret-style setup with half-round seating arrangements

Banquet 93

A banquet-style layout with round tables for dining events

Cocktail 46

A cocktail-style setup for standing receptions and networking

Events space 26

An open room configured for larger events

The boardroom dominates by a wide margin, which tells you what the UK market is really buying: a table, chairs around it and a screen on the wall. Training rooms and conference space exist in real numbers behind it, and anything above roughly 50 seats is almost always a theatre, cabaret or banquet layout in a venue built for it.

Capacity is the other axis, and it is worth reading carefully. Every room publishes a maximum occupancy, which is a ceiling rather than a recommendation: a room listed at 8 will take a meeting of 6, but a meeting of 10 needs a room listed at 10 or above.

The 5-to-8 band is the thickest part of the UK market with 746 rooms, and the largest single room in the set carries a ceiling of 600. For a small, well-equipped room, Horton House in Liverpool L2 3PF starts at a 2-person room from £21.67 per hour and tops out at 6. Book a meeting room at Horton House on Wezoo.

For a building that covers several bands at once, Blythe Valley Park in Birmingham B90 8AG runs four rooms from a 4-person boardroom at £43.56 per hour up to a 25-person room at £138.85 that also sets up as classroom or theatre. Book a meeting room at Blythe Valley Park on Wezoo. At the top end, Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre London Heathrow at UB7 0DU publishes 40 separate rooms with ceilings from 16 up to 600 and all seven layouts, at £20.64 per hour. Book a meeting room at Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre London Heathrow on Wezoo.

One pattern is worth knowing before you search. The rooms that publish the full audio-visual list tend to sit in serviced-office buildings and cluster in the 4-to-14 band. The rooms with the largest ceilings and the widest choice of layouts tend to sit in hotel and conference venues, which publish the seating plans instead. Neither is better; they answer different meetings.

Where meeting rooms are available in the UK: the cities and how many in each

Meeting rooms are the most evenly spread of all the flexible workspace products, because every town with an office building has a room in it. Wezoo covers 179 UK towns and cities. These are the areas with the deepest supply.

Greater London holds 170 of the 524 buildings, which is close to a third of national supply in one region. Outside it, Leeds and Manchester are the two deepest markets, and after that the curve flattens quickly into a long tail of towns with one or two buildings each.

In Scotland, 1 West Regent Street in Glasgow G2 1RW lists four rooms from 6 to 14 people at £55.69 to £72.83 per hour, with boardroom, cabaret, classroom, theatre and U-shape setups. What a meeting room costs in the UK, by the hour, half day and full day

Meeting rooms on Wezoo are priced by the hour, and that is the only rate published. Of the 1,946 rooms, 1,879 carry a published hourly rate in pounds including tax; the remaining 67 are priced on request. There is no separate half-day or full-day rate on this page, and we will not invent one by multiplying the hourly figure, because the total you actually pay is set at checkout against the block you select.

What stands in for a half day is the minimum booking length, which every room publishes:

Minimum booking Rooms

2

30 minutes

29

1 hour

1,681

2 hours

215

3 hours

1

4 hours, effectively a half day

The one-hour minimum covers 1,681 of the 1,946 rooms, so the standard UK booking unit really is a single hour. Rooms in hotel and conference venues more often start at two hours, and a small group of 18 rooms only takes bookings in half-day blocks.

On rate, the published hourly prices run a very wide range. The lowest in the whole UK set is £12.38 per hour at Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket on Morrison Link, which holds that same rate across rooms with ceilings of 6, 20, 35 and 65 people and carries a 4.6 out of 5 rating from 361 reviews. Book a meeting room at Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket on Wezoo. The highest published rate in the set is £1,016.40 per hour, for a large London room.

Between those ends, a four to six person room in a regional city typically publishes somewhere in the £20 to £60 per hour range, and the same size room in central London publishes higher. Liverpool Street New Broad Street House at EC2M 1NH is a fair benchmark for the City: seventeen rooms with ceilings from 4 up to 90, starting at £57.79 per hour for a four-person boardroom. Book a meeting room at Liverpool Street New Broad Street House on Wezoo. For a direct comparison in the North West, Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre on Cheetham Hill Road publishes ten rooms from 12 to 240 people at £33.00 per hour, and is one of the few buildings in the set that publishes seven-day opening. Book a meeting room at Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre on Wezoo.

Every rate quoted on this page is the published rate including tax. For a deeper look at what drives the number, see our guide to how much a meeting room costs.

Who books a meeting room, and for what

The shape of the inventory tells you who is using it. With 412 rooms capped at four people, the single most common booking in the UK is a small, private conversation that should not happen in a café or an open-plan office: an interview, a one-to-one, a client call that needs a door.

Above that, the 746 rooms in the 5-to-8 band carry the ordinary working week of a distributed team: the quarterly planning session, the project review, the day when a remote team is in the same city and needs somewhere to sit together. The 1,285 boardroom layouts are what board meetings, investor updates and client presentations get booked into, and the 201 classroom and 197 theatre layouts are the training days and seminars. The 93 banquet and 46 cocktail setups exist for dinners and receptions, which is a different product again.

Companies without a permanent office are the heaviest users: if your team is remote, a room booked for three hours is the cheapest way to get everyone round one table. Companies with an office book them too, when their own rooms are full or when a client visit calls for somewhere closer to the station.

Where a meeting room is the wrong answer. If you need somewhere to work on your own for a day, a day office is cheaper and designed for it. If you need desks for a team every day, that is a private office. If you need a business address rather than a room, that is a virtual office. And if you are running a multi-day conference with accommodation and event management, book the venue directly: what is listed here is the room and the hours, not the event.

How to book a meeting room on Wezoo

Unlike a private office or a virtual office, which are enquiries, a meeting room is a direct booking. You choose the room, the date and the block of time, and you confirm it.

  1. Pick your city, or open one of the buildings linked on this page.
  2. Filter by the number of people. Remember the published figure is a ceiling, so a meeting of ten needs a room listed at ten or more.
  3. Check the layout if it matters. Boardroom for a discussion round a table, classroom or theatre for training and presentations, U-shape for workshops.
  4. Check the minimum booking length. Most rooms start at one hour, some at two, and eighteen rooms across the UK only take half-day blocks.
  5. Check the opening hours before you plan a weekend session. Only seven of the 524 buildings publish Saturday or Sunday hours.
  6. Book and pay online. The cancellation window is published per room and varies widely across the set, from 24 hours before the booking at one end to more than three weeks at the other, so check it on the room you choose.

Rates on Wezoo are the rates the building publishes, including tax, with no booking fee added on top at the Wezoo end.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a meeting room in the UK?

Published hourly rates on Wezoo start at £12.38 per hour including tax and run up to £1,016.40 per hour for the largest London rooms. A four to six person room in a regional city typically publishes between £20 and £60 per hour, and central London publishes higher. Of the 1,946 rooms listed, 1,879 carry a published rate and 67 are priced on request.

What is the difference between a boardroom and a meeting room?

A meeting room is the room itself. A boardroom is one of the ways it can be laid out: a large central table with chairs around it, which is the most common arrangement in the UK by a wide margin, published 1,285 times across the set. Other layouts for the same kind of room include classroom, theatre, U-shape, cabaret, banquet and cocktail.

Can I book a meeting room for just one hour?

Yes, on most of them. A one-hour minimum applies to 1,681 of the 1,946 rooms listed in the UK. Twenty-nine rooms take 30-minute bookings and two take 15 minutes, while 215 rooms start at two hours and 18 only take half-day blocks of four hours.

How many meeting rooms are there in the UK on Wezoo?

There are 1,946 individual meeting rooms across 524 buildings in 179 UK towns and cities. Greater London holds 170 of those buildings, followed by Leeds with 22 and Manchester with 21.

Do UK meeting rooms include tea and coffee?

Usually not as part of the room rate. Only 280 of the 1,946 rooms list tea, coffee and water as included. On the rest it is either charged separately or not published, so check the individual room before you book.

Are meeting rooms available at weekends in the UK?

Rarely. Only 7 of the 524 buildings publish opening hours covering Saturday or Sunday. The other 517 publish Monday to Friday hours only, so a weekend session needs checking against the specific building first.
