Virtual office Thousand Oaks: one listed business address

Wezoo lists one virtual office address for Thousand Oaks. It is at 2945 Townsgate Road, Suite 200, in the Westlake Park Place office park, and the mailing city printed on it reads Westlake Village, CA 91361. That one line is the most useful thing to know before you commit to anything, and it is the detail provider listings tend to skip.

This guide covers what the plans at that address actually include, what the Secretary of State and the Postal Service expect from you, and which kinds of business are well served by a Thousand Oaks business address. If you need desk space rather than an address, our guide to office space in Thousand Oaks covers the private offices at the same building and nearby.

What does a virtual office in Thousand Oaks cost?

The Thousand Oaks address carries four separate virtual office plans. Every one of them has a minimum term of one month, so none of this needs a year of commitment up front. The prices below are the starting price on each plan, which is a floor rather than a quoted rate: the listing does not state which contract length that floor assumes, so treat it as the entry point and ask for a quote on the term you want.

Plan

What it covers

From

Address and mail

Business address, mail handling, package handling

$119 per month

Call answering

Call answering only, no address

$119 per month

Address, mail and calls

Business address, mail handling, package handling, call answering

$275 per month

Full plan with desk access

Everything above, plus coworking access at the building

$415 per month

Two things are worth pulling out of that. The call answering plan is sold on its own, at the same entry price as the address plan, so you can buy a staffed phone line without taking the address at all. And the jump to the full plan is what buys you a desk in the building rather than only a presence in it, which matters if you expect to work from Thousand Oaks a few days a month.

The listing description also mentions a local phone number and meeting room access as part of the virtual office offer. Neither is broken out as a separate item on the plans themselves, so confirm both with the provider before you budget for them.

Is a Thousand Oaks business address accepted for company registration?

Two different boxes get run together here, and separating them saves most of the trouble this product causes.

The first is your agent for service of process, the entry that appears on your California Statement of Information. The Secretary of State defines that agent as “an individual who resides in California, or a registered 1505 corporate agent, designated to accept service of process (court papers) if the business entity is sued.” A building is neither of those things. Renting a business address on Townsgate Road does not by itself give you an agent, and a workspace operator is not automatically a registered 1505 corporate agent. If you need that box filled, ask the provider whether they sell registered agent service as a separate product, then check the answer against the Secretary of State before you file.

It is also worth knowing what becomes public. The Secretary of State records that “the name and the physical street address of the agent for service of process is a public record, open to all.” For a founder running a company out of a house in the Conejo Valley, that is usually the whole reason for looking at a commercial address to begin with.

The second box is mail, and that one is federal. An office business center of this kind is treated as a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency, so before mail can be delivered to you there you complete PS Form 1583, Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent, and present primary and secondary identification. The Postal Service requires that those documents be current and not expired, and a separate form is completed for each addressee. Allow an extra day for that step and bring two unexpired IDs. It is not a quirk of this building: it applies to commercial mail addresses across the country.

There is one more point specific to this address, and it is the one worth checking first. The address line reads Westlake Village, CA 91361. Whatever you register, invoice or publish with it will carry that city, not Thousand Oaks. If your filings, your licence or your customers need a Thousand Oaks city line, raise it with the provider before you sign rather than after.

The one virtual office address on Wezoo in Thousand Oaks

Wezoo lists a single building for this city, so there is no shortlist to work through. Here it is in full.

1. 2945 Townsgate Road — Westlake Village

Virtual office business address at 2945 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village, CA 91361

2945 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village, by Regus

The address is 2945 Townsgate Road, Suite 200, Westlake Village, CA 91361, operated by Regus in the Westlake Park Place office park in Ventura County. The reception is staffed Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, which is when mail and deliveries are taken in for you. The building is wheelchair accessible and has a coffee and tea bar, breakout spaces and catering, so it holds up if you ever need to meet someone there rather than only receive post.

Getting to it is straightforward when you do need to visit. The listing puts the nearest parking lot about 663 metres from the building and the Lakeview and Watergate bus stop about 1,125 metres away, with Moorpark Metrolink Station serving the wider valleys. It sits close to the freeway, near Westlake Lake and The Oaks Shopping Center.

Which Thousand Oaks district carries the most weight for a business address

For a registered address the district genuinely matters, because an address is judged on where it sits. For Thousand Oaks on Wezoo, though, the honest answer is that there is no comparison to make: one building is listed, and it is in the Westlake Park Place office park on Townsgate Road, on the Ventura County side of the Conejo Valley.

That is a commercial office park rather than a retail street, which is the right register for a business address. An address in an office park reads as a place of business to anyone who looks it up, and it keeps a residential street out of a public filing. What it will not do is place you on Thousand Oaks Boulevard or anywhere else inside the city proper, because Wezoo has no listing there today.

If the surrounding area matters more to you than the Thousand Oaks name, two neighbouring guides are worth a look. Our Westlake Village virtual office guide covers the addresses filed under the Westlake Village city page, which are different buildings from this one, and virtual office Ventura covers the coast. Further south, virtual office Los Angeles has considerably more choice. For the product itself rather than this city, start with our complete guide to virtual office.

Who uses a Thousand Oaks business address, and who should not

The people this suits are the ones who need a fixed, credible place for a company to receive post without anyone travelling to it. Distributed teams use it to keep one address across a website, invoices and records while everyone works from wherever they are. Founders working from home in the Conejo Valley use it to keep a home street address off a public filing. Businesses from elsewhere use it to test whether the area is worth a lease before they take one.

It is the wrong product in four cases. If you need an agent for service of process, the address alone does not give you one, and that is worth settling before anything else. If your paperwork must show a Thousand Oaks city line, this address will not produce one. If you need a desk most days, a coworking plan or a private office is the cheaper and better fit. And if you are hoping an address by itself will create a local trading presence, it will not: it gives you a credible place to be reached, which is a different and more modest thing.

How to request a virtual office in Thousand Oaks

This product is not bookable from a calendar, because the provider has to set up the plan and verify who you are before the address goes live. You send a request, agree the plan, then complete the mail paperwork.

  1. Decide which of the four plans you need: the address on its own, call answering on its own, both together, or the full plan with desk access.
  2. Send the request through the address listing below. Say which plan you want and whether you need mail forwarded or scanned.
  3. Complete PS Form 1583 and present two current forms of identification. Budget an extra day for this step before the address can receive your mail.
  4. Once the plan is confirmed, put the address on your site, your invoices and your records. The minimum term is one month, so you can start small and change your mind.
