A virtual office gives your business a street address at a real building you do not sit in every day. In New Zealand that address has a specific job: the Companies Register will not accept a PO Box for your registered office, so the address has to be a physical one that someone is accountable for.
Wezoo lists 19 virtual office addresses across five New Zealand cities: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Palmerston North. This page sets out what those addresses include, where they are, what the Companies Office actually requires of a company address, and how to request one.
What you get with a virtual office in New Zealand — and what you do not
The product is an address, not a seat. You get the use of a building’s street address for your business, and your post arrives somewhere staffed rather than at your home letterbox. What sits around that address depends entirely on which building you pick.
Across the 19 New Zealand addresses, a staffed reception is listed at 15 of them, breakout space at 16, and 14 sit close to public transport. 10 list step-free access. Those are the facilities the buildings themselves publish, and they are set out per address further down.
What a virtual office is not: it is not a desk you can turn up to whenever you like, and it is not a lease. If you need somewhere to actually work from, that is a different product. Our guide to office space in New Zealand covers the private and serviced offices in the same buildings.
Where a virtual office is available in New Zealand — the cities and how many addresses in each
The supply is concentrated in Auckland, with Wellington a clear second. Christchurch, Dunedin and Palmerston North each carry a smaller number, which matters if you want an address in the region you actually trade in rather than a generic big-city one.

Within Auckland the addresses spread well beyond the CBD: Queen Street and Customs Street in the centre, but also Parnell, Newmarket, Grey Lynn, Highbrook, Sylvia Park and the North Shore at Constellation Drive. In Wellington they cluster along Lambton Quay, Willis Street and Customhouse Quay.
What a virtual office costs in New Zealand — and is there a free option?
None of the 19 New Zealand addresses publishes a standing price. That is normal for this product rather than a gap in the listing: a virtual office is quoted on what you actually need from it, so the figure follows the conversation about post handling, how often you want to use a meeting room, and whether you want the address on the Companies Register or only on your invoices. Pricing is on request for all 19.
What you can weigh up in advance is the building rather than the number. A central Auckland tower address and a Palmerston North high-street address do different jobs for a business, and that difference tends to show up in the quote.
Is there a free option? Not for a registered office. The Companies Office requires a physical New Zealand address and will not take a PO Box or a DX service, so the free mail-drop route does not meet the requirement. The registration fees themselves are separate from any address service and are set by the registrar: NZ$10 plus GST to reserve a company name and NZ$118.74 plus GST to apply to incorporate, according to the Companies Register.
Is a virtual office legal in New Zealand, and which addresses the registrar accepts
Yes, with conditions, and the conditions are published by the registrar. Company addresses in New Zealand are administered by the New Zealand Companies Office through the Companies Register. Its guidance is specific about what an address has to be.
Every New Zealand company must give the register three addresses: a registered office, where the company books and records are normally kept; an address for service, where legal documents are delivered; and an address for communication. The registered office and the address for service must both be physical addresses in New Zealand, and neither may be a PO Box or a DX service.
Crucially for anyone considering a virtual office: the Companies Office states that the registered office and the address for service do not need to be the place where your business trades, and notes that many businesses use the address of their accountant or solicitor for both. Where the address sits in a building shared with other businesses, you must give the full location, such as the office number or the level it is on. That is precisely the detail a serviced building can provide.
What the registrar requires of the address
- A physical address, not a PO Box and not a DX service
- Located in New Zealand
- In a shared building, the office number or floor level as well
- Checked against the New Zealand Post address database, or entered manually if it is not found there
- Any change notified at least five working days before it takes effect
- Company records available at that address, or the real storage address reported separately, and it cannot be a PO Box
Two further obligations follow the address rather than the building. If your company has a constitution, a copy of it must be kept at the registered office. And if you move your records, the Companies Office must be told within 10 working days. When you change a registered office or address for service, the old address stays visible on the register for five working days before it is replaced.
This is worth settling with the building before you file anything, because the person who accepts legal documents at that address is accepting them on your behalf. Ask what happens to a court document that arrives on a Friday.

Who uses a virtual office — and who should not
It suits a company that needs a credible, compliant address more than it needs a room. Contractors and consultants who work from home and would rather not put their home address on the public register. Founders incorporating a New Zealand company before they have staff. Overseas businesses opening a New Zealand entity that need a physical local address from day one. Small firms that have outgrown a home address on their invoices but have nowhere to put a lease.
It is the wrong product if you need a place to work. A virtual office does not come with a desk you can use at will, and treating it as cheap office space will disappoint you within a month. It is also the wrong product if you need a guaranteed same-day physical handover of post, or if your business has to show a trading address at the premises where the work happens, which some licensing regimes require. And if several of your team need to sit together regularly, you are looking for office space in New Zealand instead.
How to request a virtual office on Wezoo
Pick the building whose address you want, then send a request through its page. There is no checkout: a virtual office is arranged between you and the building, so the request opens that conversation with your details already attached.
Have three things ready, because they shape the answer you get. First, whether the address is for your registered office, your address for service, your correspondence, or all three. Second, what should happen to post that arrives. Third, whether you want occasional use of a meeting room at the same building. 110 Carlton Gore in Auckland is a reasonable place to start if you have no preference on location.

If what you actually need is a room rather than an address, the companion guide to office space in New Zealand covers the private and serviced offices in many of these same buildings. And if you are setting up across the Tasman as well, the same questions about registered addresses come up in Australia, which we cover in virtual offices in Australia.
