Virtual Office Essex: 6 Best Business Addresses for 2026

Search for a virtual office Essex address and every result sells you the same thing: a postcode and a monthly price. That is the easy half. The half nobody publishes is what physically sits behind the address you are about to put on Companies House — whether there is a staffed reception, whether you could book a meeting room there next Tuesday, and whether the address is genuinely distinct from the one your competitor down the road just bought.

Wezoo lists six virtual office Essex addresses, spread across five towns. This guide names all six, shows what else each building will actually let you walk into, and sets out the registered office rules that decide whether an address is usable at all. If you are still deciding whether the product is right for you, start with our complete guide to virtual offices. If you want the neighbouring county, we covered the virtual office East Sussex market separately.

An address you cannot walk into is a postcode with a mailbox. The six below are all real, staffed business centres — but they are not interchangeable, and two of them are 36 metres apart.

What does a virtual office Essex address cost per month?

Wezoo does not publish a monthly rate for a virtual office Essex package, so the honest answer is that the price is quoted on request. These packages are assembled from parts — the address itself, the right to use it as your registered office, mail forwarding, call answering — and operators price those parts separately. A quote takes a day or two.

For context, published rates across the wider Essex market start at roughly £30 a month for a basic business address, with registered-office use and mail forwarding usually charged as add-ons of a few pounds each, plus a one-off setup fee covering the anti-money-laundering checks providers are legally required to run. Treat any headline figure as the floor, not the total.

What Wezoo can price precisely is everything else in the same building — and that is where the real cost comparison lives. Meeting rooms at these six addresses run from £31.37 to £69.60 an hour. Day offices run from £42 to £130.80 a day. Hot desks run from £18 to £54 a day. If you expect to be on site once a month, those numbers matter more than a £5 difference in the address fee.

What actually sits behind each virtual office Essex address?

This is the question the price comparisons skip. A registered office is a legal obligation; a business centre is a place. The six Essex addresses differ sharply on the second point, and the pattern is not what you would guess from the marketing.

What Wezoo’s own inventory shows behind the six Essex business addresses

Read the table below before you pick on price. The column that catches people out is Meeting room.

Address Town Operator Meeting room Day office Hot desk
Jubilee House Brentwood Regus £44.06/hr £102/day £42/day
The Civic Building Epping Regus £41.33/hr £130.80/day
Stansted Airport Stansted Regus £31.37/hr £106.80/day £42/day
Halford House Chelmsford Regus £130.80/day £54/day
Rainsford House Chelmsford HQ £69.60/hr £118.80/day
Wellington House Colchester HQ £38.02/hr £42/day £18/day

Halford House is the outlier: a Chelmsford address with no bookable meeting room on Wezoo. If you plan to meet clients at your own registered office, that single dash should decide it for you. Wellington House in Colchester is the opposite case — the cheapest day office and the cheapest hot desk of the six.

The six virtual office Essex addresses, one by one

1. Jubilee House, Brentwood (CM13 3FR)

virtual office essex - Jubilee House, Brentwood
Jubilee House by Regus, Brentwood

The best-equipped of the six on paper: breakout space, catering, a coffee and tea bar, a lounge and step-free access. It is also the closest Essex address to east London, which matters if your clients are in the city but your company is not. Best for founders who want a Greater London-adjacent address with somewhere decent to sit when they visit. Brentwood has its own dedicated write-up — see our virtual office Brentwood guide.

2. The Civic Building, Epping (CM16 4BZ)

virtual office essex - The Civic Building, Epping
The Civic Building by Regus, Epping

Epping Civic Centre is the only one of the six with both car parking and bike storage, plus breakout space, catering, a lounge and step-free access. It sits at the far end of the Central line, so it reads as London-commutable without carrying a London postcode. No hot desks here, but meeting rooms start at £41.33 an hour. Best for businesses whose clients drive to them.

3. Stansted Airport, Endeavour House (CM24 1SJ)

virtual office essex - Stansted Airport business centre
Endeavour House by Regus, Stansted

Third floor of Endeavour House, on the airport site. Parking, breakout space, catering and step-free access. This is the cheapest place to hold a meeting of any address on the list at £31.37 an hour, and the only one where a client can land, meet and fly out. Best for import, export, logistics and anyone whose customers arrive by plane.

4. Halford House, 2 Coval Lane, Chelmsford (CM1 1TD)

virtual office essex - Halford House, Chelmsford
Halford House by Regus, central Chelmsford

A county-town address a short walk from Chelmsford station, with breakout space, catering and public parking nearby. The catch is in the table above: no meeting room listed. Hot desks are the priciest of the six at £54 a day. Best for a purely postal presence in the county town, where the address does the work and you never need the building.

5. Rainsford House, Coval House, Coval Lane, Chelmsford (CM1 2PZ)

virtual office essex - Rainsford House, Chelmsford
Rainsford House by HQ, central Chelmsford

Same lane as Halford House — 36 metres away, measured from the coordinates of the two buildings — under a different operator and a different postcode. It has what its neighbour lacks: a bookable meeting room, though at £69.60 an hour it is the most expensive on the list. Best for a Chelmsford address where you will genuinely host people.

6. Wellington House, 90–92 Butt Road, Colchester (CO3 3DA)

virtual office essex - Wellington House, Colchester
Wellington House by HQ, Colchester

The north-Essex option, and the cheapest building to actually use: £18 a day for a hot desk and £42 a day for a private day office, both the lowest of the six by a wide margin. Meeting rooms are £38.02 an hour. Best for anyone serving Colchester, Ipswich and the Suffolk border. See also our virtual office Colchester guide.

Which Essex towns are actually covered?

Five of them: Chelmsford, Brentwood, Epping, Stansted and Colchester. That leaves real gaps, and it is worth being blunt about them rather than pretending a county-wide listing covers a county. Basildon has no Wezoo virtual office Essex address. Neither does Southend-on-Sea, Harlow, Braintree, Clacton or Romford.

A registered office does not have to be near you, so a gap is rarely a dealbreaker — but if you want to collect post in person or use the meeting rooms, distance decides. Straight-line distances to the nearest listed address:

If you are in Nearest listed address Distance
Harlow The Civic Building, Epping 7.9 km
Romford Jubilee House, Brentwood 8.6 km
Basildon Jubilee House, Brentwood 13.6 km
Braintree Halford House, Chelmsford 16.8 km
Clacton-on-Sea Wellington House, Colchester 20.5 km
Southend-on-Sea Rainsford House, Chelmsford 27.0 km

Chelmsford is the only town with two, and as noted they share a lane. Six addresses across a county of 1.5 million people is a thin market — so if the address itself is the point, check that your neighbours have not all bought the same one. For a fuller picture of the flexible space behind these postcodes, our coworking space Essex and private office space Essex guides cover the same buildings from the desk and the lease side.

Can you use it as your Companies House registered office?

Yes, provided the provider offers registered-office use as part of the package and the address meets the statutory tests. Since 4 March 2024 those tests are stricter than most people realise, so check them before you pay for anything.

Under the GOV.UK rules for registered office addresses, the address you register must be a physical address in the UK and in the same country your company is registered in — for an Essex company, that means England and Wales. It must also be ‘appropriate’: post delivered there must be expected to come to the attention of someone acting for the company, and the sender must be able to obtain an acknowledgement of delivery. That ‘appropriate address’ duty was introduced by section 28 of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, amending the registered office requirement in section 86 of the Companies Act 2006. The procedure the registrar follows when an address fails the test is set out in the Registered Office Address Rules 2024.

Three consequences follow, and they are the reason a staffed business centre beats a mail drop. A Royal Mail PO Box no longer qualifies, and neither do equivalent services from other companies. Your registered office is published on the public register, so it is the standard way to keep a home address off it. And a company that does not maintain a compliant registered office can be struck off. All six Essex addresses above are staffed business centres with reception, which is exactly the fact pattern the appropriate-address test is written around — but confirm registered-office use is included in your quote, because it is often a paid add-on.

Two more practical points. You must have the address in place before you incorporate, and if you move you must tell Companies House when your company address changes. Once registered, the address also has to appear on your company stationery, website and order forms. Book the address for the letters; choose the building for the meetings.

What mail handling and forwarding should you expect?

Mail is where virtual office Essex packages differ most, and where the cheapest option usually stops being cheap. Expect three tiers, priced separately by nearly every operator.

Collection is the base: post is held securely at reception and you pick it up during office hours. Free at most staffed centres, and genuinely practical at all six Essex addresses because all six are manned buildings rather than mailboxes. Forwarding sends post on to another address, typically daily, weekly or monthly, at a small monthly fee plus postage. Scanning opens and emails your post the day it arrives — the only tier that works if you are rarely in the county.

Two things to confirm in writing before you sign. First, whether registered-office and director’s-address use are included or charged on top, since Companies House correspondence and HMRC letters will arrive at this address. Second, what happens to signed-for items: the appropriate-address test turns on the sender being able to get proof of delivery, so a provider that refuses recorded deliveries is a provider that fails the test.

When should you choose a virtual office Essex address over a desk?

The trigger is simple: a virtual office solves an address problem, not a workspace problem. If what you need is somewhere to work, you are looking at the wrong product, and at these six buildings the alternatives are cheaper than people assume.

Choose the address when you work from home and do not want that on the public register, when you want a local presence in a county you are not based in, or when a client-facing postcode matters more than a floor. Choose a hot desk or day office instead when you need to be somewhere two or more days a week — Wellington House in Colchester is £18 a day, which beats most annual address-plus-add-ons packages once you use it regularly. And when the answer is a room with your own door and a monthly commitment, that is a private office, quoted per building.

Most Essex businesses end up with a combination: the address every month, a meeting room a few times a year. That is the case for choosing your virtual office Essex provider on the strength of the building rather than on the address fee alone. Chelmsford-specific options are covered in our virtual office Chelmsford guide.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a virtual office Essex address per month?

Wezoo quotes this product on request rather than publishing a rate, because packages are assembled from an address fee plus optional registered-office use, mail forwarding and call answering. Across the wider Essex market, basic business-address plans start at around £30 a month, with add-ons and a one-off anti-money-laundering setup fee on top.

Can a virtual office Essex address be my registered office?

Yes, if the provider includes registered-office use and the address meets the statutory tests. It must be a physical UK address in the country your company is registered in, and it must be an appropriate address — post must reach someone acting for the company and delivery must be capable of acknowledgement. A Royal Mail PO Box no longer qualifies.

Which Essex towns have a Wezoo virtual office address?

Chelmsford (two addresses), Brentwood, Epping, Stansted and Colchester. There is currently no listed address in Basildon, Southend-on-Sea, Harlow, Braintree or Clacton. The nearest option to Basildon is Jubilee House in Brentwood, about 13.6 km away; the nearest to Southend-on-Sea is in Chelmsford, about 27 km away.

Which virtual office Essex address is cheapest to actually use?

Wellington House in Colchester. Its hot desks are £18 a day and its day offices £42 a day, both the lowest of the six. The cheapest meeting room is at Stansted Airport at £31.37 an hour.

Can I hold client meetings at my virtual office Essex address?

At five of the six, yes. Halford House in Chelmsford is the exception — it has no bookable meeting room on Wezoo, so if you plan to meet clients at your own registered office, pick one of the other five. Rooms are booked and paid for separately from the address.

Will my home address stay private if I use a virtual office Essex address?

Your registered office address is published on the public Companies House register, so using a business-centre address instead of your home is the standard way to keep your home address off it. Ask your provider whether director’s service address is included, as that is often a separate line item.
