Meeting room hire Southwark looks simple until you try to book a Saturday. Wezoo lists 10 venues and 48 bookable rooms across the borough, from a £21 two-seater at Elephant & Castle to a £480 room for 70 on Park Street — and almost all of them lock their doors at five. This is the full list, with the hourly rates, the capacities and the one thing no listing site prints: the opening hours. For the wider product picture, start with our complete guide to meeting rooms.
We pulled every meeting room in Greater London from the Wezoo inventory — 171 addresses, 817 rooms — and read the timetable attached to each one. What came back reframes meeting room hire Southwark entirely. The borough is not London’s cheap corner. It is London’s late one.

Meeting room hire Southwark: what does an hour actually cost?
The median Southwark room is £84.00 an hour. That is 9% above the Greater London median of £76.80, and the gap widens when you compare addresses rather than rooms: Southwark’s typical venue sits at £90.00 an hour against £78.00 across the capital.
So much for the south-bank discount. We tested that claim directly in our analysis of meeting room hire London Bridge, where the brands with addresses on both banks of the Thames charged more on the south side, not less. Southwark’s numbers say the same thing from the borough level. Price is not why you come here.

The timetable nobody prints: 167 of London’s 171 venues close on Friday
Every Wezoo room carries opening hours, and nobody reads them. We did, across all 171 London addresses. The result is stark.
- 167 of 171 London venues (97.7%) sell Monday to Friday only. Four open seven days.
- 30 of London’s 817 meeting rooms (3.7%) can be booked on a Saturday or Sunday.
- 20 rooms (2.4%) can be booked after 6pm. The rest close at 17:00, 17:30 or 18:00.
- The typical London venue is open 45 hours a week. The doors here that open seven days run 104 and 108.5.
London has 171 meeting-room addresses. Four of them will sell you a Saturday. Two are in Southwark — which is the whole case for meeting room hire Southwark.
Do the arithmetic. Southwark holds 5.8% of London’s meeting-room addresses and 5.9% of its rooms — but 11 of the capital’s 30 weekend-bookable rooms (37%) and 11 of its 20 evening rooms (55%). Strip out the Leonardo at Heathrow, 24 km from the centre, and Southwark holds 11 of central London’s 18 weekend rooms: 61%.
Why? Because the room’s calendar belongs to the building, not the room
The two seven-day addresses in Southwark are a hotel and a members’ club. A serviced-office floor closes at five because reception goes home; a hotel lobby and a club with a gym are already staffed on a Sunday, so the meeting room on the floor above can be sold. The calendar is a property of what else the building does. That is also why the pattern does not travel with the brand — check the door, not the logo.
Meeting room hire Southwark: the two venues that open at the weekend
They sit 670 metres apart, on either side of Borough Road and Lavington Street.
The Ministry, 79–81 Borough Road (SE1 1DN)
Four rooms, 10 to 20 seats, every one of them £43.75 an hour — a flat list, 43% below the London median. Open 07:00–23:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00–18:00 on Sunday. Video conferencing, whiteboard, flip chart and natural light on every room; the 20-seater publishes four layouts (theatre, boardroom, U-shape, classroom). It is the cheapest hourly rate in the borough that will also sell you a Saturday evening. Elephant & Castle and Borough are both a short walk.

societyM London Bankside, 20 Lavington Street (SE1 0NZ)
Seven rooms, 6 to 30 seats, £50.00 to £80.00 an hour, open 07:30–23:00 every single day of the week — 108.5 hours, the longest week of any meeting room in London. Screens and whiteboards throughout. Five minutes from Tate Modern and the river, and the operator’s ratings run 0.86 overall. One catch, and it is a big one: see the next section.

Why the hourly rate is the wrong number
Two rooms at £50 and £84 an hour are not what they look like, because they do not sell the same slot. Every room carries a minimum booking, and multiplying it by the rate gives the entry bill — the smallest amount you can actually spend. We built this test for meeting room hire Waterloo, and Southwark re-ranks even harder.
| Venue | Rate | Minimum slot | Smallest booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Enterprise Hub | £21.00/h | 60 min | £21.00 |
| Uncommon Borough | £84.00/h | 30 min | £42.00 |
| Flex @ Tide | £60.00/h | 60 min | £60.00 |
| Runway East London Bridge | £72.00/h | 60 min | £72.00 |
| London Bridge More London | £75.77/h | 60 min | £75.77 |
| The News Building | £84.04/h | 60 min | £84.04 |
| The Ministry | £43.75/h | 120 min | £87.50 |
| societyM London Bankside | £50.00/h | 240 min | £200.00 |
Read that last row twice. societyM has the second-cheapest headline rate in Southwark and the second-dearest smallest booking, because it sells four-hour blocks, not hours. Uncommon Borough, with the borough’s fourth-highest rate, has the cheapest real booking of any full-price room here: £42 for half an hour.
Uncommon will sell you half an hour on a Tuesday for £42. The Ministry will sell you a Saturday night for £87.50. Nobody in Southwark sells you both.
The rest of the list

The 30-minute minimum on the small rooms makes it the borough’s best pick for a short, sharp meeting: an interview, a client sign-off, a stand-up that needs a door.

If the meeting is a recurring one rather than a one-off, weigh an hourly room against flexible office space in the same buildings — several of these addresses sell desks and day offices too. And if you are still deciding between an hour and a day, our guide to renting a meeting room by the hour sets out the crossover point, while what should be in a conference room covers the kit list.
