Coworking Space Old Street: 5 Best Desks Near Silicon Roundabout 2026

If you are hunting for a coworking space Old Street, you are really hunting for a desk you can walk to from the station in under fifteen minutes. Wezoo lists five hot-desk buildings inside a one-kilometre radius of Old Street station, and a coworking space Old Street searcher can book any of them by the day — from £36 to £78, no membership, no contract.

Old Street is where London decided to put its tech quarter. The roundabout everyone still calls Silicon Roundabout sits on top of a Northern line station, and the streets running off it — City Road, Great Eastern Street, Goswell Road, Curtain Road — carry more startups per square metre than anywhere else in the country. Desks here are priced accordingly. Mostly. This guide shows you exactly what Wezoo lists within walking distance, what each one costs per day, and when a desk is the wrong answer. If you want the wider picture first, start with our complete guide to coworking.

Wezoo snapshot — London hot desks, July 2026

  • London median: £54.00 per desk per day
  • Old Street radius range: £36.00–£78.00 per desk per day

Coworking Space Old Street: Why the Postcode Filter Fails You

Search portals filter by postcode. Old Street gets tagged EC1V and EC2A, so that is what most directories show you. It is the wrong tool.

Run the postcode filter on Wezoo’s London inventory and you get two buildings: Regus at 167 City Road (EC1V 1NR) and Huckletree at 1 Primrose Street (EC2A 2JN). The Regus is 330 metres from the station barrier. The Huckletree is 840 metres away, sitting right on top of Liverpool Street — a perfectly good building, but nobody standing at the roundabout would call it Old Street. Meanwhile the closest hot desk in the whole city to Old Street station, Epworth House on City Road at 310 metres, is EC1Y. The postcode filter throws it out.

Postcodes don’t walk. People do. So we ranked every coworking space Old Street option by straight-line distance from the station entrance instead.

Building Operator Distance from station Desks Price / day
Epworth House (Shoreditch) Spaces 310 m 12 £78.00
167 City Road (Old Street) Regus 330 m 12 £58.80
Beton, 23 Goswell Road Spacemade 810 m 4 £42.00
Huckletree, 1 Primrose Street Huckletree 840 m 1 £42.00
Shoreditch Exchange Oneder 960 m 1 £36.00

Distances are straight-line from the station entrance; street routes add a couple of minutes. Everything in the table is bookable by the day on Wezoo.

What Does a Coworking Space Old Street Desk Cost?

Between £36 and £78 per person per day, depending on which side of the roundabout you land on. The London median across all 116 hot-desk buildings Wezoo lists is £54 per day, so Old Street straddles it rather than sitting above it.

That spread is the finding. The same twelve-minute walk buys you a £36 desk or a £78 one — a 2.2× difference inside a single kilometre. Compare that with a coworking space in Canary Wharf, where the two listed towers sit at £82.80 and £94.80 and the spread is barely 1.1×. Canary Wharf is an estate with one price band. Old Street is a street market. Corporate towers on City Road charge tower money; the converted-warehouse operators two streets east charge warehouse money; and both are a short walk from the same Northern line platform.

Practical read: if the meeting is with a client and the address matters, pay for City Road. If you are heads-down for a day and nobody is visiting, walk the extra six minutes and keep £36 in your pocket. The 5 Best Coworking Space Old Street Desks, Ranked by Walk Time

1. Spaces Shoreditch, Epworth House — the closest desk to the station

Shoreditch by Spaces, Epworth House, City Road, EC1Y 1AA

Epworth House is the nearest hot desk to Old Street station in Wezoo’s entire London inventory — 310 metres, straight up City Road. Twelve desks, £78 a day, and the building carries the full serviced kit: bike storage, catering, breakout floors, step-free access. Operator ratings put reachability at 4.7/5 and value for money at 3.6/5, which is exactly what you would expect from the most convenient address in the postcode. You are paying for the 310 metres.

Five meeting rooms sit in the same building, from £78.46 an hour, seating 6 to 10.

2. Regus Old Street, 167 City Road — the one actually called Old Street

Twenty metres further from the barrier than Epworth House and £19.20 a day cheaper. Twelve desks, natural light on the hot-desk floor, and a 4.4/5 overall operator rating with reachability at 4.75/5 — the highest of the five. This is the default choice for anyone who wants an Old Street address without the Epworth House premium, and the seven meeting rooms on site (from £52.01 an hour, up to 20 seats) make it the practical pick when a desk day turns into a client day.

3. Beton, 23 Goswell Road — the highest-rated of the five

Ten minutes south-west, on the Barbican side of the roundabout, and £42 a day. Beton carries the best operator scores in this group by a clear margin: 4.6/5 overall, 4.7/5 on facilities, 4.75/5 on hospitality. Phone booths, a coffee and tea bar, bike storage, wheelchair access. Four desks only, so it goes early. Five meeting rooms from £36 an hour.

4. Huckletree, 1 Primrose Street — Old Street on paper, Liverpool Street on foot

The EC2A postcode files this one under Old Street. Your feet file it under Liverpool Street: 840 metres from the roundabout, and roughly two minutes from Liverpool Street’s Elizabeth line platforms. £42 a day, one desk, with a restaurant, lounge and reception on site. Book it if you are coming in on the Elizabeth line and Old Street is just the label; skip it if you actually need to be at the roundabout.

5. Shoreditch Exchange — the cheapest desk in the radius

£36 a day — the floor of the radius, and £18 under the London median. Twelve minutes east through Shoreditch, with coffee, tea and water included and natural light on the desk floor. The operator scores 4.5/5 overall and 4.8/5 on hospitality. It also holds 23 bookable meeting rooms from £24 an hour, the deepest room stock of the five by a distance, which makes it the value play when a solo day turns into a workshop.

Old Street vs Shoreditch vs Liverpool Street: Where Do They Overlap?

They overlap almost completely, and that is why the search results confuse everyone. Old Street is a station and a roundabout. Shoreditch is the district wrapped around it to the east. Liverpool Street is the mainline terminus about ten minutes south.

Operators name buildings after whichever landmark sells best, not whichever one is closest. Spaces calls its City Road building “Shoreditch” even though it is the nearest desk to Old Street station. Huckletree calls its Primrose Street building “Liverpool Street” even though its postcode says EC2A, which everyone reads as Old Street. The names are marketing; the walk is geography. If your search started at the station, sort by distance and ignore the label — then cross-check with our guides to co-working space in Shoreditch and coworking space in East London for the wider field.

When Should You Book a Day Office Instead of a Desk?

When three or more of you are travelling in together. That is the whole rule, and the numbers behind it are unusually clean.

At Regus Old Street a private day office costs £154.80 a day against £58.80 for a hot desk — a break-even of 2.6 desks. At Spaces Shoreditch it is £190.80 against £78.00, a break-even of 2.4 desks. So two people are cheaper on desks; three people are cheaper, quieter and more private in a room of their own. Both buildings carry deep day-office stock — 16 rooms at Regus, 40 at Spaces, sized from 1 to 79 people — so a same-day booking for a team of six is realistic rather than hopeful. If you are still weighing desk against room against private office, our overview of flexible workspace options lays out the trade-offs.

How Do You Get to Old Street?

The Northern line, mostly. Old Street sits on the Bank branch, two stops from Moorgate and three from London Bridge, and it is also a National Rail stop on the Great Northern route out of Moorgate. Full line and step-free information is on the Transport for London tube network pages.

All five buildings above are tagged near-public-transport in Wezoo’s data, and four of the five carry bike storage or step-free access. That matters more here than in most of London: Old Street’s cycling volumes are among the highest in the city, and the roundabout was rebuilt around that. Government figures on hybrid and home working in Great Britain show why day-rate desks near a fast line have become the default for hybrid teams: most hybrid workers commute two or three days a week, and they want the commute to be short on those days.

Coworking Space Old Street: Frequently Asked Questions

From £36 to £78 per person per day across the five buildings Wezoo lists within a kilometre of the station. The cheapest is Shoreditch Exchange at £36; the most expensive is Spaces at Epworth House at £78. The London-wide median is £54.

Which operators run a coworking space Old Street?

Yes. Silicon Roundabout is the nickname for the Old Street roundabout, coined when the first wave of startups clustered around it. Tech City is the same place under a different name. All three point at the junction where City Road, Old Street and Great Eastern Street meet.

Can I book a meeting room near Old Street on the same day as a desk?

Choosing Your Coworking Space Old Street

Sort by walking distance, not by postcode. If the address is doing work for you — a client is visiting, an investor is coming — take Epworth House or 167 City Road and accept the tower price. If nobody is watching, walk ten more minutes and take Beton or Shoreditch Exchange at half of it. And if three of you are coming in, stop looking at desks and book a room.

Old Street sells proximity to the roundabout. You decide what that’s worth. Every coworking space Old Street option in this guide is bookable on Wezoo by the day, with free cancellation and no membership attached.
