Two numbers in that box need a caveat, because they are the ones most easily misread. The $51.52–$202.50 range is the entry price at each address — the cheapest room that address offers. The single most expensive room in the state is dearer still: a twelve-seat boardroom at RXR Office Center in Short Hills, at $300.00 an hour. And the median of $97.75 mixes room sizes, which is why the rest of this guide compares four-person rooms to four-person rooms.
What actually moves the price of a meeting room in New Jersey
Most workspace guides tell you to compare the amenity list. In this state that advice is empty, because the amenity list is very nearly a constant. Here is what all 155 rooms look like when you line them up.
Five findings, in the order they matter to a booking.
- The minimum booking is identical. All 155 rooms carry a 60-minute minimum, so there is no half-hour ticket to hunt for.
- The opening hours are identical. Monday to Friday only, and 8:30am to 5:00pm on 769 of the 775 weekday rows in the data.
- The core kit is identical. Video-conference equipment, a whiteboard, a flip chart and wi-fi appear on all 155.
- Natural light carries no premium. Four-seat rooms flagged for it average $85.83 an hour against $91.82 for the rest.
- The town is the price. A four-seat room runs $51.52 to $169.52 depending on where in the state you book it.
So: geography.
Read that list as a shopping order. A meeting room New Jersey search that starts with features will spin for an hour and land nowhere, because nothing in the first four findings moves the price anywhere in the state. Item five is the whole decision.
The two features that vary are both priced at zero
Only two capability flags move at all across the New Jersey listings. A large display is listed on 121 of the 154 priced rooms and not listed on 33. The large display behaves the same way — $89.60 with, $95.60 without. In New Jersey, the better-equipped room is, on average, the cheaper one.
The cleanest test in the dataset: two New Jersey addresses each list a pair of same-size rooms where one is flagged for natural light and the other is not. At RXR Office Center in Short Hills, both six-seaters cost $202.50 an hour. At Forrestal Village in Princeton, both ten-seaters cost $168.00. Same address, same capacity, one flagged for a window, and the price is identical to the cent.
One caution on reading those flags: a short amenity list means the feature is not published, not that it is missing from the room. Ask on arrival if it matters. What the data does settle is that publishing the flag does not raise the rate.
