If you have searched for a cheap coworking space, you already know the frustrating part: most listing sites answer with “contact for pricing”. We run the booking platform, so we can simply show you the numbers. Across 1,487 US buildings with bookable hot desks on Wezoo, the lowest listed day rate is $16.50 and the highest is $207.90. That is the same product, sold the same way, in the same country.
This guide explains what sits behind that spread, which levers actually move your day rate, and where the low rates are right now. Every price below is the starting day rate on the listing itself, including tax.
What counts as a cheap coworking space?
“Cheap” is the word people type into Google, and it is worth being precise about what it means here. A coworking space sells you a seat in a shared room rather than a room of your own. A hot desk is the entry product: you turn up, take any free desk, use the wifi, the kitchen and usually the printer, and leave. Every one of the 1,487 US listings in this guide is sold for one person, so the day rate you see is the price for one seat.
Cheap, then, is not a different product. It is the same desk at a lower number, and the number is set almost entirely by where the building is and how long you commit for. There is no secret tier of discount coworking in the US. There are ordinary buildings in ordinary locations that charge less, and this guide is about finding them.

US coworking day rates on Wezoo, October 2026
| Listed day rate | Locations |
|---|---|
| $25 or less | 8 |
| $30 or less | 26 |
| $35 or less | 82 |
| $40 or less | 180 |
| $50 or less | 518 |
Lowest listed rate $16.50 · highest listed rate $207.90 · 1,487 US locations with bookable hot desks
Two things stand out. First, a desk under $30 a day exists but is rare: 26 locations out of 1,487. Second, the choice opens up sharply above that. There are 82 locations at $35 or less and 518 at $50 or less, and that wider band reaches most big metros.
Our listings are not the only evidence. A hand-researched survey of the five best-regarded coworking spaces in each of the 25 largest US cities, published by BuildRemote and last updated in 2024, found city-average day passes running from $17 to $41, cheapest in Oklahoma City and most expensive in San Francisco. Different method, same conclusion: the city you choose moves the number more than anything else you can control.
What actually makes a desk cheap, and what you trade away
Four levers move the number, and only one of them is about the quality of the space.
The metro you pick
This is by far the biggest lever, and it does not follow the reputation of the city. Two Texas metros make the point: the cheapest hot desk in Houston is $20.90, while the cheapest in Austin is $64.90. Austin’s floor is higher than New York’s, where the cheapest listed desk is $53.90. If your work is remote and you have any say in where you sit, this single choice outweighs every other decision in this guide.
Where you sit inside that metro
Within one city the spread is just as dramatic. Chicago’s cheapest desk is $31.90 on the North Side; the top of the same city’s range is $108.90 downtown. Houston runs from $20.90 in the north of the city to $108.90 closer in. Las Vegas runs from $27.50 east of the Strip to $108.90. You are not buying a better desk at the top of that range, you are buying the address and the commute.
How long you commit
A day pass is the most expensive way to buy a desk per day and the cheapest way to try one. If you need a desk several days a week, a monthly membership almost always costs less per day than repeat day passes. We cover the mechanics of both in our guides to the coworking day pass and to coworking memberships. The honest rule of thumb: book day passes while you are still deciding, switch to a membership once the pattern is stable.
What you give up
At the bottom of the range you are usually further out, in a building with surface parking rather than a transit stop at the door, and in interiors that are functional rather than designed. Some of the cheapest listings in this guide have a staffed reception and a proper kitchen; some are a quiet floor and a good chair. What you rarely lose is the thing you came for, which is a desk, reliable wifi and a door that locks behind you. If a space needs to impress a client, pay for the central address. If it needs to hold your attention for eight hours, do not.
10 of the cheapest coworking desks to book in the US in 2026
Each of these is the cheapest bookable hot desk we list in its city, and they span ten different metros. All ten are live listings you can book for a single day.
1. 4200 Fashion Square Blvd, Saginaw

From $16.50 per day. At $16.50 this is the lowest day rate we list anywhere in the US, a figure it shares with one other building, in Dayton, Ohio. The Saginaw site sits beside the Fashion Square retail strip in mid-Michigan, with its own parking lot and an HQ reception desk inside the door. You get a seat, the wifi and the coffee, and very little ceremony. For a day of focused work between client visits in the Tri-Cities, that is the whole job.

2. Northchase Drive, Houston

From $20.90 per day. Houston carries 30 priced hot-desk locations, more than any other metro in this set, and this one in the north of the city is the cheapest of them. It is a staffed HQ floor near public transport, so you are not trading away the front desk to get the rate. Houston is also the clearest example of how far the number moves inside one state.
Operator: HQ · Address: 16510 Northchase Drive, Houston

3. KMG Building, Louisville

From $20.90 per day. A quiet suburban office building east of downtown Louisville, with desks that look out over surface parking and trees rather than a skyline. The listing is one of only seven priced hot-desk locations in the city, so the choice here is narrow, but the rate matches Houston’s cheapest while the city around it is considerably smaller.
Operator: HQ · Address: 2321 Energy Drive, Louisville
4. 100 NE 5th Street, Oklahoma City

From $27.50 per day. Downtown Oklahoma City, near public transport and a public parking lot, which is an unusual combination at this rate. Oklahoma City turns up repeatedly in national price surveys as one of the least expensive large markets for a desk, and our own listings agree: the cheapest seat downtown costs less than the cheapest seat in most coastal suburbs.

5. 2400 Ardmore Blvd, Pittsburgh

From $27.50 per day. Forest Hills, east of the city centre, in a landmark tower with its own lot. Pittsburgh has 13 priced hot-desk locations and this is the floor; the top of the same city’s range is $64.90. The interiors here are workmanlike rather than photogenic, which is a fair description of what the low end of the market usually buys you.

6. 3838 Raymert Dr., Las Vegas

From $27.50 per day. East of the Strip, in a low-rise business park with a small staffed reception. Las Vegas has 21 priced locations and a wide spread: this seat is $27.50 and the city’s top listing is $108.90. If you are visiting for a conference and need somewhere to work between sessions, the distance from the Strip is what buys the lower number.

7. 4311 N. Ravenswood Avenue, Chicago

From $31.90 per day. A converted brick building on the North Side, near public transport, with a lounge and breakout space that look nothing like a budget option. This is the cheapest of Chicago’s 22 priced hot-desk locations, and the Loop listings in the same city reach $108.90. The Brown Line is doing most of the work on that difference.
Operator: Regus · Address: 4311 N. Ravenswood Avenue, Chicago

8. 260 Peachtree Street North West, Atlanta

From $31.90 per day. Downtown Atlanta, inside a building with a restaurant, lounge and breakout areas, and near both public transport and parking. Atlanta is the exception to the pattern in this list: the cheapest desk is central rather than suburban, and the whole city’s range is narrow, topping out at $64.90.
Operator: Regus · Address: 260 Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta

9. Superdome Business Center, New Orleans

From $31.90 per day. On Poydras Street beside the Superdome, wheelchair accessible, with a coffee and tea bar, a lounge and a restaurant in the building. New Orleans has only four priced hot-desk locations, so there is little to compare it against locally, but $31.90 for a CBD desk is at the low end of what large metros list.
Operator: Regus · Address: 1615 Poydras Street, New Orleans

10. 400 W 48th Ave, Denver

From $31.90 per day. North of downtown Denver, with an open lounge area and breakout space on the floor. It is the cheapest of the city’s 13 priced hot-desk listings; the top of the same range is $82.50. Denver is a useful illustration that the cheapest desk in a popular metro is rarely the one with the mountain view.

Who a cheap coworking desk is right for
A low day rate suits some working patterns and actively works against others.
It works well if you are a remote employee who needs to get out of the house two or three days a week, a freelancer whose clients never visit, a consultant working between site visits, or a student or researcher who needs a quiet desk and good wifi. In all four cases nobody but you sees the building, so the address earns nothing.
Pay more if clients come to you, if you need a meeting room on the same floor more than occasionally, if your day depends on being ten minutes from a particular office, or if you are placing a team rather than a person. In those cases the central building is not a luxury, it is the thing you are actually buying. Teams that need a room of their own should look at private offices instead, which are priced monthly and work differently.
If you want to see how this plays out in one market, our city guides to coworking space in Chicago, Houston and Atlanta list the full local range rather than just the floor.
How to book a cheap coworking desk
Booking a hot desk is closer to booking a hotel room than signing a lease. There is no tour, no credit check and no notice period.
- Search the city, not the neighbourhood. Widening to the whole metro is what surfaces the $20 desk two transit stops out.
- Sort by price and read the second page. The cheapest listing in a city is often a building you have never heard of, which is exactly why it is cheap.
- Check the day you need. Availability on a hot desk is per day, and the busiest days in most buildings are Tuesday to Thursday.
- Book the single day first. Spend one day in the building before you commit to anything longer.
- Switch to a membership once the pattern is clear. If you are going three days a week, the monthly plan is the cheaper per-day number.
Most desks can be booked for the next working day, and many for the same day. You do not need to plan weeks ahead unless you want a specific building in a tight market.

Cheap coworking space FAQ
What is the cheapest coworking space in the US?
The lowest listed day rate across our 1,487 US hot-desk locations is $16.50 per day, shared by two buildings: 4200 Fashion Square Blvd in Saginaw, Michigan, and a second HQ building in Dayton, Ohio. Eight locations list at $25 or less and 26 list at $30 or less, so desks under $30 exist but are a small share of the market.
How much should I expect to pay for a coworking day pass?
Most realistic choice sits between $35 and $50 a day: 518 of our US locations list at $50 or less, and 180 at $40 or less. In large metros the cheapest desk is usually away from the centre, so the figure you end up paying depends more on where in the city you look than on which city it is.
Is a cheap coworking space worse than an expensive one?
Not in the way most people expect. At the low end you are generally paying for a less central address and plainer interiors, not for worse wifi or a smaller desk. Several of the cheapest listings in this guide have a staffed reception, a kitchen and breakout space. What you lose is proximity and polish.
Is a day pass or a monthly membership cheaper?
A day pass is cheaper if you need a desk occasionally and a membership is cheaper if you go regularly, usually from about three days a week. Because a hot desk carries no notice period, the low-risk route is to book single days first and move to a membership once your pattern settles.
Can I book a cheap coworking desk for one day only?
Yes. Every listing in this guide is sold as a single-day booking for one person, with no membership required and no minimum term. Many can be booked for the same day, and most for the next working day.
Which US cities have the cheapest coworking?
Among the metros in this guide, Houston ($20.90), Louisville ($20.90), Oklahoma City ($27.50), Pittsburgh ($27.50) and Las Vegas ($27.50) have the lowest entry rates. Austin, at $64.90 for its cheapest desk, is the most expensive floor of the set, above New York’s $53.90.
