What is a business address?
A business address is the physical street address a company uses as its official point of contact — on state registration documents, tax forms, bank accounts, contracts and marketing material. It is not the same thing as where you sit and work. Thousands of US companies file one address, operate from another, and receive mail at a third.

Home address — free, and permanently public
Filing your house as the company’s address costs nothing and takes no setup. The catch is public record. State business registries publish the address, data brokers scrape the registries, and it ends up on mailing lists, map results and occasionally a disgruntled customer’s phone. Once it is out, you cannot pull it back. Fine for a hobby LLC. Bad for anything with customers, deliveries or a co-founder who lives elsewhere.
Registered agent — the legal minimum, not a real address
Every US corporation and LLC must name a registered agent with a physical in-state address, staffed during business hours, to accept lawsuits and state notices. That is the entire job. A registered agent will not take your parcels, will not let you print a street name on your website, and will not give you a room to meet a client in. Mailbox or CMRA — cheap, but the zip code shows
A commercial mail receiving agency rents you a box, scans your envelopes and forwards what matters. It is the cheapest way to get your home off the filing. Two limits are worth knowing. Many states reject a PO Box as a company’s registered address, and some banks refuse a suite number that traces back to a known mail centre. There is no reception, no meeting room and no phone.

If your team already pays for space, use it. A coworking membership or private office includes the building’s address, reception and mail handling as part of the deal.
